Victoria B.C.

Debby planned a boat trip to Victoria, capital of British Columbia, located on Vancouver Island. It is nearly a three hour trip at 30 knots, leaving from the port of Seattle.

In the foreground is a small harbor taxi; we took one for an hour cruise up the north-extending inlet, the gorge, on day two.

After disembarking, we walked for lunch at a small funky cafe, then prowled through the B.C. Museum of Natural History for 2 hours.

Our hotel was very convenient to everything, and we could find it easily by its kilted bear mascot.

We walked around downtown, going as far north as Chinatown; then after a short rest, went back to the cafe for dinner and live entertainment, a jazz guitar trio. We found a nice harbor walk on the way back, enjoying the harbor scene at twilight.

The second day was centered around afternoon tea at the Empress Hotel.

Kitty-corner from the Empress is the B.C. Parliament, which is outlined in white lights at night.

We found Victoria delightful. It is compact, clean, and seems to offer a nice life style. We hope to return and explore more places. Debby particularly liked all the flowers; there were hanging baskets of flowers everywhere, some visible in the picture above.
