Buzz on the street: the coyote pup that I've seen several times in our back yard is being accused of offing four small pet dogs in our vicinity. The neighborhood is having someone set a trap to catch her before she gets hungry again. I still see all our neighbors' cats around, though.
Funny, there were grown coyotes prowling our neighborhood in civilized, urban Santa Ana, and pets were going missing there also. But I've never heard of anyone attempting to trap them. I'm guessing they have less tolerance for critters up here in the wild north woods.
Here's hoping the neighbors don't replace little Muffy with a pit bull. That might be cause for concern.
